Cigar Review of the Week - Acid Kuba Kuba
Don’t call this cigar flavored! The Acid Kuba Kuba is uniquely infused with mellow all natural herbs, essential oils and an extra touch of floral botanical flavors. This provides a pleasurable experience to the palate. The Kuba Kuba cigars are a combination of premium whole leaf long filler Nicaraguan tobaccos and beautiful natural Sumatra wrappers married together to create a cigar that is unlike anything else in the cigar industry.
Enough of the typical aficionado jargon, “This is a good cigar”. I will admit that I was scared away from the whole Acid line because of the idea that a cigar could be matched up with the coffee/mocha flavored cigars which was my introduction into the cigar world over 15 years ago. However, I am here to tell you that the Kuba Kuba does not smoke, burn, or taste like the cigars of my past. It competes with the big players in the industry that have rolled out the Beast, Vintage, and Sun Grown. The Kuba Kuba is my smoke of choice while relaxing on my loft deck with a nice glass of Goose on the rocks! To summarize, the Kuba Kuba is a cigar that appeals to both traditional smokers as well as the new generation to cigars.
The Kuba Kuba recieves a rating of 4.45 out of 5 smoke rings!

Other Cigars Sampled
CAO Gold Corona
The CAO Gold was one of the first brands in the CAO lineup. The CAO Gold features one of the finest Ecuador Connecticut Shade wrappers, which is even soft to the touch. This cigars start with a light bite, but once warmed they become very creamy and nutty. Although often overlooked, this is great blend for someone looking for a milder smoke with flavorful body. Allow the CAO to impress you! Great in the evening as the perfect complement to a good earthy scotch. Cigar Aficionado gave the CAO Gold a very respectable ‘88’ (“EXCELLENT”) rating.
CAO Italia Piazza 6X60
Italy, best known for its fine olive oils and wines, is now also recognized as a contributor to a line of unique, handmade cigars from CAO. The CAO Italia is one of the only cigars in the world to include premium Italian leaf in its blend. This cigar is complex and well balanced.
These cigars are made with an Italian filler which is complimented by other Nicaraguan and Puruvian fillers that make this cigar very complex and tasty. Finished with rich Honduran Habano seed wrappers, The CAO Italia has a medium-body and has a very damp texture that brings out its natural aromas, providing a surprisingly smooth experience. The CAO Italia is a very enjoyable smoke. I give the CAO Italia a 4 out of 5 smoke rings.
CAO Sopranos
The limited edition CAO “The Sopranos” cigar features an exotic blend of Nicaraguan, Dominican and Colombian filler tobaccos along with a Honduran binder that is finished off with a deep chocolate Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper. The Sopranos has a sweet flavor that entails hints of cinnamon and nuts. Each full-bodied cigar is double-banded, with a red Sopranos logo at one end, and packed in a sleek red box.
Named one of Cigar Aficionado Magazine’s Top 25 in 2005, the Sopranos has been one of the most popular cigars on the market. However, in 2008 it seems that the CAO Sopranos has been replaced as the “godfather” of cigars. The CAO Sopranos still a very good cigar, however it's not one that you would find filling the shelves of my personal humidor. I give the CAO Sopranos 3.8 out of 5 smoke rings.
Cyber Cigar Shopping
Call it déjà vu, but this week’s cyber cigar review is on Gotticigar.com. As I mentioned in last weeks review, GottiCigar.com is a dynamic online cigar company that seems to be going against the established norms in the cigar industry. Well this weeks review is nothing different; Gotticigar.com has completely shifted their focus. Gotticigar.com is now featuring incredible weekly offers. It’s very simple; they have a weekly offer of one box of cigars at ridiculously low prices. For example, this week I personally picked up 3 boxes of El Rey Del Mundo—Robusto at only $63 per box. At that price how can you miss? Be sure to sign up for their weekly newsletter.
Cigar Lounge Revew
As I entered Club Macanudo on New York's Upper East Side I remember why its one of my favorite spots when I visit NYC. Club Macanudo is an elegant oasis, which has been hailed as New York's premiere cigar bar, restaurant and lounge. As I relaxed on the well-conditioned leather sofa, and indulge in my cocktail of choice (Macallan 18) I realized that Club Macanudo is the ideal place to have dinner with a group of old friends and catch up in a stylish setting rivaled by few. In the midst of a state-of-the-art ventilation system and a knowledgeable and attentive staff, I always enjoy a connoisseur's selection of food, drink and cigars. Take it from someone who enjoys great scotch and cigars, Club Macanudo is a must for anyone in New York City. Location: 26 E 63rd St New York, NY 10021-8030 Phone: (732) 752-8200

Scotch Review
- TALISKER™ 18 YEAR OLD
SINGLE MALT SCOTCH WHISKY -
One of my all-time favorite malts, Talisker 18 years old is a masterpiece from one of Scotland's greatest distilleries, and was named 'Best Single Malt Whisky in the World' at the World Whiskies Awards in 2007. It has a stunning balance of peat, spice and sweetness. This beautiful scotch is sweet in front, then more assertive, with a whiff of smoke. The development is towards smoke, coal-tar and toffee. Take it from me, if you are looking for the perfect drink to welcome in this holiday season it the Talisker 18.
Strength: 45.8% ABV
Appearance: Amber.
Nose: Rich and fruity – Victoria plums, greengages, perhaps dried orange peel – with some butterscotch or rum toffee and a thread of smoke behind. The smoke soon advances into the foreground and the toffee note is joined by a light mintiness. With water maritime characteristics emerge – dry boat varnish, edible seaweed. Still sweet; now with notes of iodine and the smokiness of an un-struck match.
Body: Full. Pleasant, smooth.
Palate: Sweet in front, then more assertive, with a whiff of smoke. The development is towards smoke, coal-tar and toffee.
Finish: Medium length. Talisker’s™ characteristic chilli ‘catch’ in the finish is subtly present in the aftertaste.
